Mother's Day :)

Mother's Day week/weekend was so much fun! On Wednesday, Taylor came out and spent a few hours with me. We went to the Divvy Up consignment sale, which was awesome. I've been the last three times and have bought Jett clothes. I usually stock up on a size bigger than he currently wears. So this time I got 3T winter and spring clothes. I also got our little girl some clothes, as well. Along with burp clothes and a few other little things. Saturday, my mother-in-law, Macae came out. We hit the sale again on it's last day, most things were half off. :) She spent the day with us and we took her to Gaucho Grill for Mother's Day. Jett loved being with his G'ma!

Sunday, we went to church. Mother's Day has always been hard for me. The entire time listening to speakers talk I had tears in my eyes just thinking about my sweet mama. She was so wonderful and beautiful. My brother, Jordan went up to my mom's grave site in Tooele and sent a picture of the back of her head stone. It had the names of all of us kids and Jordan sent the words, "we will be family forever." Jordan and his wife, Jessi called me and wished me a Happy Mother's Day, it meant so much. I love my family so much! I love being a mom! Jett keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Being a mom is so wonderful! I love my kids! Even though one is not quite here yet, I love her so much. They both are my entire world. :)

Isaac made Nutella crepes for me for breakfast and pork ribs for dinner. We spent most of the day outside because it was so beautiful! He also got me an electric can opener! This may sound cheesy and weird but I was so excited! We've gone through sooo many hand ones. So yay for a new electric one! I also got this ADORABLE purse! I love, love it!

This week has been pretty eventful. Last Friday, I decided to get a start on my course modules for school. I am in a 7 week course and we have 9 modules to get through. Well I've always liked to get a head start on school work, so by Tuesday afternoon I'd done 5 out of the 9 modules. Haha. So I'm taking a break from school for a week or so. :) I also got my grades back for spring semester. An A and an A-! I was happy. :)

Monday, late night and Tuesday early morning, Jett woke up several times and came into our room. Isaac kept putting him back in his room. At 6:45, he came to my side of the bed and asked for juice. So I went to pick him up and his entire shirt was soaked. Up to his armpits. So I immediately got up and put him in the bath. I went to check his bedding and the entire top part of his bed was soaked! Blankets and pillows were soaked, but thank goodness for plastic sheets. No soaking into the mattress. Best 5$ buy, ever. Anyways, we checked his blood and it was 460! Isaac said we should probably check his ketones. The ketones showed up at a level of 3.8. I grabbed his sick day book and found out moderate to large ketones were 1.6-3.0. So, they  were really high!  We gave him an extra dose of insulin to get rid of ketones. My poor buddy was sick for most of the day. I turned on Wreck it Ralph for him and went into our bedroom to get ready. I walked into the living room and he was curled into a ball on the floor, asleep. I grabbed him and asked if he was okay and he just started clapping saying, yayyy. I laid him down in our bed and he slept for 3-4 hours. I can't imagine what his poor body goes through on a daily basis but I'm glad he's feeling better. :)

Jett's birthday is coming up and I've been looking at backyard play sets for him. I found a few ones I liked but I mentioned to Isaac that it would be fun to build him one. So yesterday, we went to Home Depot and got a bunch of supplies to build him a little slide and climber play set! I'm so excited! I can't wait to see the finished product. It will be nice for him to have something to play with in the backyard. Especially this summer as I get bigger, it's going to be more difficult to play with him on the jungle gym at the park. We're hoping to add a swing section to it eventually. :)

Tuesday, we went to the doctor. Everything looked really good! Baby girls heart beat was at 140! Normal is anywhere between 120-180. My next appointment I have to take the glucose drink. Everyone dreads doing that test, but I didn't think it was bad at all! I guess we will see how I like it this time around. Shortly after that, I will be doing two week appointments to watch my blood pressure closely so I don't develop preclampsia like I did with Jett. Baby Jane moves so much!! She gets the hiccups a lot! Isaac and I can now see her pushing on my stomach, it's the coolest thing. Jett loves his baby sissy and I just know he will be a wonderful big brother. :) Also, doctor says to still plan on being induced a week early. Woo!

Well that's all for now, I hope everyone had a wonderful week!

Recent Happenings!

This past weekend was very eventful! We were busy, busy! Friday night we went down to Ogden to hang out with my brother Jordan and sister-in-law Jessi. Seriously, we always have so much fun with them! Jett now calls Jordan, Uncle Jerd. It sounds more like, Uncjerd! Haha. It is so cute! Jett is definitely Uncle Jerd's twin!

Saturday we woke up early and got ready to go to my bestie Taylor's baby shower! She is having a baby girl, who she is naming Preslie. She's due June 15! I remember the day she told me she was pregnant! That was in September! It goes by so fast. I can't wait to meet that baby girl!

Saturday night we went to Uncle Jerd's football game. He plays for a league and the team is called The Utah Shock. He's a stud and did absolutely awesome. I must say I have some very athletic and talented brothers! They are all studs! Sunday, we went to our good friend's, Lael and Elise's, baby girl's blessing. She is such a doll! I was great to see them again. They use to live in Logan but moved down to Sandy once they were both done with school. That afternoon we went to hang out with Isaac's mom, dad and sister. It was great to see them, as well! It's always nice to spend time with family. :)

On the way down to SLC, he was holding Auntie Jess's hand. It was adorable!

Isaac and I both finished a part time semester last week. I am soo glad to be done with the semester and moving on to a new one. Which sounds weird, but this semester should be a little easier since I am done with all my morning sickness. It was definitely hard to get focused. Fall semester I took 12 credits with a toddler. It wasn't hard but spring semester I wanted to take a smaller load so I could get a little break. This summer, I'm taking two classes again. They are both 7 week courses, one being at the beginning of the semester and one at the end. So I technically am only taking one class at a time. My beginning of the summer semester, so far, seems pretty easy. We will see about the one at the end. By the end of the summer, I will have FIVE classes til I graduate! I am SO excited to almost be done. And I've done most of it with a baby! It's really not as hard as some people think. I still get plenty of time with Jett and I am able to get the grades I want. The five semesters I've been in school with a baby, my GPA hasn't been lower than a 3.5. So I say I'm doing pretty good! :)

Jett is becoming sooo smart! I can't believe how much they learn in two years. And I can't believe he will be two in less than a month! My baby is sure getting big. He knows all of his ABC's and will point out what letter is which. He knows what many different animals say. I can actually have a conversation with him! It's awesome to have someone to somewhat talk to and not just a baby giving me googly eyes. Haha. He's also becoming better at getting his finger poked and getting his shots. When it's time to check him, I will grab his meter and he says, "blooooood!" and will sit there as happy as can be while I check his blood. Also, though he's still wiggles while getting shots, he's doing better. This morning, I walked into the living room and he looks at me and says, "Shot?" Because I hadn't given him his shot yet. It was almost like he was reminding me. It was so cute.

Jett LOVES to play with cars. He's such a little boy in that way. He says, "Cars go vrrooooom!" He has a ton of toy cars, it's ridiculous! He also loves Mickey Mouse. We bought him a Mickey and Minnie when we went to Disneyland and he could careless about Minnie. He throws her to the side and grabs Mickey.

I still can't believe I am 5 months pregnant! I found out I was pregnant almost 4 months ago! Time goes by so fast. I'm excited to meet our sweet baby girl! I've been getting anxious to see her and hold her. When we had our ultrasound at 19 weeks, she was measuring 3 days big. Not that it makes much of a difference, but I am anxious to see what my doctor will say since I will be induced a week early. Isaac felt her for the first time on Tuesday! I am excited he is able to feel her move like I have for the past 3.5 weeks.  Jett is so cute with his baby sister already! He will come up to my belly and say, "Hi baby!" and hug it and kiss it. It's seriously the cutest thing in the world. He's going to be the best big brother. :)

These are pictures of me at 21 weeks with Jett and now at 20.5 weeks with sweet baby Jane!

I decided since the baby's room is practically set up that I wanted to take pictures of our new house that we moved into 5 months ago. Don't think I am crazy. I already had the crib, crib mattress, and glider from Jett. We also had a few other big things from Jett we decided to get out of storage, like the car seat, boppy and sleep-rocker. We decided to move it into the babies room since Jett has grown out of everything.

I seriously LOVE our house. It actually feels like a home when we come home. The backyard is perfect for Jett! He loves to play outside. :)

When we first found out we were having a girl, I wanted to make bows. I ended up making a lot but I also purchased a lot as well. But for cheap! I also made the bow holder from a frame at the DI and I hot glued ribbon on. I counted... our baby girl has 70 bows! 59 clip ons and 11 bows already attached to the headband. And we have 11 headbands where the bow can just be clipped on. Can you tell I'm excited?

We also changed my baby shower date due some conflicting issues. It is now August 3rd. :) Seriously can she just be here already? I am so excited!

Baby Girl. :)

In celebration of my half-way mark of this pregnancy (WOOO-HOO!!) , I decided to tell about the details of my pregnancy, when we decided it was time for baby #2, all the emotions that came with it and the significance of my due date. :)

In July 2012, I became VERY baby hungry. I wanted another baby sooo bad! I would cried about every little thing when it came to babies. Jett was diagnosed with diabetes at the end of July so I decided it wasn't time, yet. Every month for the next few months I told myself, "We will try next month, we will try next month." Finally at the end of November, I decided I was ready to try. When it came to take the pregnancy test on December 18th, it came out negative. I was devastated. In January, it felt like it took YEARS for it to be time to take a pregnancy test. On the night of January 10th, I decided to take a pregnancy test a few days early (I had two boxes of them ready to be used!) I thought I noticed a faint line, but I thought I may be seeing things. I waited until the next morning to take a digital test. I looked down and it said, PREGNANT! Awww!! I was so excited!

I then began to panic a few weeks later and thought, "How could I love someone as much as I love Jett?" I felt guilty thinking that. I talked to another mom who has a second child who said she felt the exact same way! And a lot of second time moms do. We decided to wait to tell everyone until I had my first appointment-which was on February 19th at 9 weeks. My doctor is Erica Smith at the Budge Clinic. She is awesome! At the appointment, Dr. Smith asked how big Jett was, in which I told her, 9 pounds 4 oz. She said we will plan on having me induced a week early. Woo!

I was WAY more nauseated this time around. By 11 weeks with Jett, my morning sickness was completely gone. This time, I first threw up at 13 weeks. It was luckily my only time. But I didn't know about nausea medicine the first time around and this time I was sure to get some! I was miserable. I still even get nauseated at times. But it's not nearly as bad as the first trimester.

I tried to keep a balance of wanting both a boy and a girl. I wanted a girl so I could have one of each but it  would be so much fun for Jett to have a little brother. I really thought it was a boy! My mom had three boys before she got her girl and Isaac's mom had four boys before she got her girl! So I for sure thought it was a boy! On March 26th, at 14 weeks, we went to Fetal Studio in the South Towne Mall to see what our little peanut was. When the ultrasound began, the tech said, "well it looks like a little girls face." I looked at Isaac and Jett then back up at the screen and I read, "IT'S A GIRL!" The tech said he was 200% sure! I was SO
HAPPY! I couldn't believe it.

With Jett, at 16 weeks, there was no doubt it was a boy! And this little one had no signs of anything boy! But obviously, being me, I doubted myself until I had my mid-pregnancy ultrasound. She was very girly and very healthy! Isaac told me we would never find out early again because of how many times I asked, "Do you really think it's a girl?" Everytime he said yes! Haha. It just seemed to good to be true! I am so excited to have one of each!

At 17 weeks, I felt our baby girl move! It was amazing! I didn't feel Jett move until 21 weeks! So it was shocking at first! I recently went into a WIC appointment and they weighed me. The lady looked at me and said, "Have you lost weight?" Supposedly I am underweight for being 20 weeks along only gaining about 6-7 pounds so far. I made it to my pre-pregnancy weight after gaining 70 pounds with Jett. This time I am trying to stay in the healthy range of what I am supposed to gain which is 25-35 pounds. But I'd be okay with 40! ;)

My due date is September 24th. This date is SO close to my heart because I lost my mom on September 24th. It will be 9 years this year. This pregnancy I've been so emotional because of my due date. And now that we are having a baby girl, it makes it so much more special because we are naming her after my mama. :) My grandma told me the day I found out I was having a girl that my mama has a special one waiting for me. I believe that 100%! I feel like I've hit the time in my life where I need my mom the most. I wish I was able to talk and cry with her about my struggles and I wish she was here to help me when I feel like I can't do it. And I know she's watching her grand babies grow from Heaven, but it's still hard at times that she's not here. My mama was beautiful inside and OUT.  I miss her every day. I can't wait until the day I see her again. :)

Now that we are having a baby GIRL, it means a baby shower!! I am so excited for it! My mother-in-law asked if she could throw it. We are planning it on July 13th. I'll be about 30 weeks. My brother and sister-in-law are moving to Chicago at the beginning of August and I want them to be there. It also was the only day in my third trimester that would work, lots of things going on in June and July! But I don't mind having it a little early! I can't wait to start planning it!

Jett's Diabetes Diagnosis

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a year since I've wrote in my blog. And what a crazy year it has been! I have several people every month asking about the story of how we found out about Jett's diabetes. So I thought I would tell it here...

My sweet boy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on July 25, 2012. The few days before he was admitted he began to throw up.  It seemed as if he would drink too much and would throw it up because he was water logged. He also began peeing, TONS! Which I assumed, "he's drinking tons, so that means he's peeing tons." On July 24, we took him out for Pioneer Day. He ended up throwing up all over our blankets right before fireworks so we decided to just take him home. The next morning, I told Isaac to leave the car at home just in case  I decided to take him in to get checked out. That day is when he began to act very sick and lethargic. All he wanted to do was lay in his crib. He could barely crawl. He would crawl a few feet and would lay down because he was so weak. I decided to call the doctor and was able to get an appointment that afternoon.

I took these pictures to send to Isaac to show him how sick he was. This was just a few hours before I took him into the hospital.

Our normal pediatrician wasn't in, so another doctor came in and checked him out. The doctor looked at me and said, "you know, I would just send him home with the flu, but his breathing is really worrying me." I looked at Jett and realized he was hyperventilating. The doctor walked in with what now I know as a meter and checked Jett's blood. The meter said HIGH. It didn't give us a number. The doctor then looked at my and said, "the worst it can be is diabetes." I then just began to bawl. Diabetes?? I knew little about it. Jett was admitted into Logan Regional Hospital. Isaac was unexpectedly working late that night- I couldn't get a hold of him and I couldn't get a hold of my parents. So here I was a distraught 21 year old mother whose 13 month old baby was being poked with needles galore and who they wouldn't let in the room to comfort him. While I was out waiting for Jett to get all hooked up to the machines, the doctor who diagnosed him came by to talk to me. That's when he told me he had diabetes. I was so glad he was the one who diagnosed Jett because he knew the symptoms. It could of easily been mistaken for something else. He said I had mother's intuition taking him in because it easily is mistaken for the flu or a virus. The doctor told me if I waited much longer- it could have been just hours and he would have been gone. I was so grateful I took him in when I did.

Such a sick baby. This was at Logan Regional when he was all hooked up to the machines.

I finally got a hold of everyone and they all headed to Logan. A few hours later, we were told his levels weren't in the range we needed them to be and life flight was coming to pick Jett up to take him to Primary Children's Hospital. I was going crazy, I didn't know what to think. At first they told me, I wouldn't be able to fly with him, but once the crew got to the hospital, we were told one parent could ride on the helicopter with him. Isaac had no choice, I had to go or I would have gone completely insane. It was 3:30 in the morning and we were on a helicopter to PCMC. When we arrived, I was told Jett's blood sugar was over 600 and he was in ketonacidosis (sp?). He was admitted into the pediatric ICU and stayed there for about half the day. Finally by afternoon he was admitted on to the Diabetes floor. He began to smile and talk. I was SOO happy!! He hadn't smiled for days. It made my heart so happy.

 \
At Primary Children's- finally starting to interact and smile. :)

The days after were lots of classes and learning how to give a baby shots. The nurses and doctors were so kind and made us feel so good about taking on such a scary task. When we finally got home, it felt like it was taking a newborn baby home. The next day we went to church and I was an emotional mess. I looked around at all the kids and was so sad. They were able to eat what they wanted without getting a shot. I sat in the overflow with Isaac and just cried. I am never taking eating whatever I want for granted again! As silly as that sounds. The weeks after his diagnoses came with lots of crying and nervous breakdowns. But we are so happy that it was nothing worse.

These are pictures just a few days after we got home from Primary Childrens. He was so happy!! YAY!

I don't want to sugar coat anything- diabetes is a scary disease. Especially with a toddler who at first couldn't tell you how he was feeling. Now it's easier to tell because he will come up to you and cry and sometimes he will be drenched in sweat with lows. Besides having diabetes, Jett has been very healthy- not one ear infection or cold. Not even a running nose! Only when he's playing and it's cold outside. But with his diabetes, he's been sick twice. One with a virus, where we had to take him to the ER because his blood sugar wouldn't go higher than 40's. The other time, we were able to stay a little above forty but under 80. For his age, they want him between 100-200. We ended up taking him to his pediatrician that time. We try to keep him as healthy as possible because when he does get sick, a hospital visit is in our future.

Diabetes doesn't run in either of our families. And it wasn't because I gave him too much sugar. ;) I don't know how many times I've had people come up to me and say, "I'm so worried my child is going to get diabetes  because they eat too much sugar!" Doctors really don't know what causes diabetes, but there is a possibility it can be caused by the environment. We THINK he caught a bad virus and it attacked his pancreas, but we don't know for sure.

We are so happy that Jett is as happy and healthy as he is. It comes with many sleepless nights-staying up worrying about if he's going to drop low and crying with this mama.I know it will get better with time. I'm pretty sure I am sad more than he is and he's the one getting his fingers poked 6-8x a day and getting shots 4-5x a day! He is such a strong boy! I love him so much! He definitely is stronger than his mama. He is, without a doubt, my hero! Love you baby boy!!
